ENGLISH

This course is designed for students in the REACH program and incorporates IXL Language Arts into the English curriculum. IXL is an individualized intervention program that targets ELA skills and provides students with individualized lessons and practice in the areas of vocabulary, grammar/ mechanics along with strategies for reading and writing. Grades 9-12, 5 Credits

LIFE SKILLS

This course is designed for students in the REACH program. The course will focus on practical living skills, personal growth and management, social skills, communication, consumer awareness (comparative shopping, money management, credit, purchasing a car), and employment skills (finding a job, interviewing techniques, maintaining employment). Grades 9-12, 5 Credits

SOCIAL DYNAMICS

This course is designed to teach students healthy relationship skills. The course will focus on self care, human development, social media and social boundaries. Students will gain the skills necessary to navigate through new social situations and develop appropriate relationships as they transition to adulthood. Grades 9-12, 5 Credits

SCHOOL TO CAREER

The School to Career program provides eligible students with an opportunity to participate in a half day school-based structured learning experience. A variety of career readiness opportunities are available to students based on interest and ability level. Opportunities include: food service, library & media services, shipping & receiving, buildings & grounds, classroom assistance, and retail sales. Students learn responsibility and the value of a dedicated work ethic. A planned program of individualized job training and work experience activities is developed for each student, appropriate to the student’s abilities. Functional life skills are further developed to assist students in preparing for graduation and entry into a community-based job site the following year. Grade 12, 20 Credits
