Grades 11-12: College and Career Readiness

Student placement in this course is based on marginal levels of proficiency on the state graduation assessment in the major academic areas of English and math. The program’s goal is to provide academic support in all areas and to prepare students for the mandated New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessments (NJGPA), so that students will meet the State of New Jersey graduation requirement. Students in the program receive grade-level, individual, and/ or small group assistance in all academic areas with a focus on English Language Arts and/or Mathematics. Foundations for the Future is a dynamic course with specialized mini-lessons designed to equip seniors with vital real-life skills. The course comprises units that cover career exploration, job-seeking and workplace skills, as well as life skills, financial literacy and civic responsibility. This comprehensive program prepares students for adulthood, fostering self-sufficiency and community engagement. In addition, test preparation skills and strategies will be provided with an emphasis on supporting students for the state, district, nation and CollegeBoard assessments. Students in the program receive grade-level, individual, and/or small group assistance in all academic and assessment areas with a focus on English Language Arts and/or Mathematics. This class is offered to students whose IEP states the need for such instruction. Grade 12: Foundations for the Future 5 Credits
