Grade 12: Foundations for the Future
Foundations for the Future is a dynamic course with specialized mini-lessons designed to equip seniors with vital real-life skills. The course comprises units that cover career exploration, job-seeking and workplace skills, as well as life skills, financial literacy and civic responsibility. This comprehensive program prepares students for adulthood, fostering self-sufficiency and community engagement. In addition, test preparation skills and strategies will be provided with an emphasis on supporting students for the state, district, nation and CollegeBoard assessments. Students in the program receive grade-level, individual, and/or small group assistance in all academic and assessment areas with a focus on English Language Arts and/or Mathematics. This class is offered to students whose IEP states the need for such instruction. Grades 9-12: Engineering the Future Through Engineering the Futures (EtF) practical real-world connections, students have an opportunity to see how science, mathematics, and engineering are part of their everyday world. Engineering the Future was created by the Museum of Science, Boston through its National Center for Technological Literacy. Students take on the role of engineers and apply the engineering design process to define and solve problems by inventing and improving products, processes, and systems. They begin to understand the relationships among Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) concepts and practices. Students will develop an understanding of how advances in technology affect human society and how human society determines which new technologies will be developed. 5 Credits
