IDEAL Courses

Grades 11-12: Career Exploration

Students will investigate career clusters through the lens of their personal goals, priorities, aptitudes, and interests with the goal of helping them make informed decisions about their careers. Students will increase preparation and mastery skills for workplace success. Students will complete interactive assessment modules consisting of hands-on, engaging activities that focus on six key skill areas: communication, enthusiasm and attitude, teamwork, networking, critical thinking and problem solving, and professionalism. Students will be graded on Pass/Fail. Students must choose Career Exploration during the course selection period. Depending on the program and completion of hours per week, this course may be eligible to earn up to 5 course credits on their high school transcript. Career Development is a vocational education course that provides an opportunity for 12th grade students to gain industrial and/or trade experience in skilled or semi skilled occupations through school recognized, on-the-job training. The course includes two (2) parts: 1) Related information class which is held each week; and 2) On-the-job training. (A minimum of 15 hours per week/not to exceed 40 hours per week). Students will receive a Pass/Fail grade. Students must choose Career Development during the course selection period. Depending on the program and completion of hours per week, this course may be eligible to earn up to 15 course credits on their high school transcript. Grades 11-12: Career Development
