ACIT Law Enforcement and Public Safety Academy Program

Year 1: Introduction to Law and Public Safety: This course provides an overview of the various types of careers that include law enforcement, firefighting, emergency medical services, and other related fields including the criminal justice system. Students are provided with the knowledge, skills, and exposure needed to make informed decisions about their future careers. Students will have the choice to enter the workforce directly or pursue higher education in several specialized fields. The foundational understanding provides a solid starting point for their journey in public safety. Year 2: Honors Law and Criminology This class can provide an in-depth understanding of the criminal justice system, including the structure of the courts, the roles of law enforcement officers, and the process of prosecuting and defending criminal cases. This class can provide a detailed understanding of the U.S. Constitution, including the Bill of Rights and other important amendments that affect law enforcement and public safety. Year 3: Homeland Security II This course provides an overview of the various types of careers that include law enforcement, firefighting, emergency medical services, and other related fields including the criminal justice system. Students are provided with the knowledge, skills, and exposure needed to make informed decisions about their future careers. Students will have the choice to enter the workforce directly or pursue higher education in several specialized fields. The foundational understanding provides a solid starting point for their journey in public safety. Year 4: Forensics This class can provide an introduction to the principles of forensic science, including the collection and analysis of evidence at crime scenes.
