GEHRHSD Curriculum Guide 2026-27
Engineering Magnet Course Progression
Grades 11-12: Honors Digital Electronics
Honors Digital Electronics (DE) is a third or fourth year elective course for students enrolled in the Cedar Creek Engineering Magnet. Digital electronics is the foundation of all modern electronic devices such as mobile phones, MP3 players, laptop computers, digital cameras and high definition televisions. Students are introduced to the process of combinational and sequential logic design, engineering standards and technical documentation.
5 Credits
Prerequisite: Honors Introduction to Engineering Design (IED), or the recommendation of the Science Supervisor.
Grades 11-12: Honors Environmental Sustainability
Honors Environmental Sustainability is a third or fourth year elective course for students enrolled in the Cedar Creek Engineering or Environmental Science Magnet. It is a rigorous activity, project, and problem-based course in which students investigate and design solutions to solve real-world challenges related to world food security, renewable energy, and clean drinking water. Students completing BioE will develop an understanding of the scientific and technological foundations for each of the problems. Students apply their knowledge and skills as they use an engineering design process to design and test solutions that help solve these global challenges. Unit topics will include:
1.Biological Engineering for a better tomorrow. 2.Water. 3.Food Security. 4.Renewable Fuels.
5 Credits Prerequisite: Honors Principles of Engineering (POE), Environmental Systems and Sustainability, or the recommendation of the Science Supervisor. Biological Engineering will develop students’ thinking skills and prepare them for emerging careers such as genetic engineering, biofuels, and bio manufacturing.
