ENGLISH This course incorporates IXL Language Arts into the English curriculum. IXL is an individualized intervention program that targets ELA skills and provides students with individualized lessons and practice in the areas of vocabulary, grammar / mechanics along with strategies for reading and writing. This program will be utilized for all students in the resource setting. Grade 9, 5 Credits CONSUMER MATH Consumer Math reinforces general math topics (such as arithmetic using rational numbers, measurement, ratio and proportion, and basic statistics) and applies skills to consumer problems and situations. Applications typically include budgeting, taxation, credit, banking services, insurance, buying and selling products and services, home and/or car ownership and rental, managing personal income, and investment. Students enrolled in this course can meet the 2.5 credits needed for Financial Literacy. Grade 12, 5 Credits Prerequisite: Students enrolled in this course must have successfully completed Algebra 1 and Geometry. scenarios while engaging students through the use of contextual problems, industry experts and cross curricular projects. This course fulfills the graduation requirements for a third year math course. Mathematical Reasoning is intended to introduce mathematical fields of study that go beyond Algebra and Geometry. Building on Algebra I and Geometry foundations, this course will focus on mastering the skills of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, problem solving, critical thinking, reasoning, and applications of mathematics. Students will think numerically, algebraically, spatially, and logically by engineering solutions to current dilemmas through the Standards of Mathematical Practice. Mathematical Reasoning stresses the importance of recurring themes and patterns in mathematics which become evident in the context of modern world MATHEMATICAL REASONING Grades 11-12, 5 Credits
