GEHRHSD Curriculum Guide 2026-27

Honors Biology 9 Biomed Grade 9 Biomedical Students, 5 Credits OHS

This rigorous honors biology course integrates foundational biological concepts with real-world biomedical applications, giving students a head start in the PLTW Biomedical Science pathway. Students will explore cell structure and function, genetics, molecular biology, human body systems, and the principles of disease while engaging in hands-on labs, case studies, and problem-based learning. Emphasis is placed on designing experiments, analyzing data, and applying scientific and engineering practices to investigate health and disease, diagnose medical conditions, and propose evidence-based solutions. Through collaborative projects, research, and biomedical challenges, students will develop critical thinking, communication, and lab skills, preparing them for advanced study in both biology and biomedical science.

AP Physics 1 Grades 9-12, 6 Credits

AP Physics 1 is an algebra-based, introductory college-level physics course. Students cultivate their understanding of physics by developing models of physical phenomena through inquiry-based investigations. Students build their understanding of physical models as they explore and solve problems in these content areas:

Kinematics Forces and Translational Dynamics Work, Energy, and Power Linear Momentum Torque and Rotational Dynamics Energy and Momentum of Rotating Systems Oscillations Fluids

Corequisite: Students enrolling in AP Physics 1 in 9th grade must be concurrently enrolled in Honors Algebra 2/Trigonometry. Prerequisite: Students in grades 10-12 must have completed their core science requirement and be enrolled in or have completed Honors Algebra 2/Trigonometry.
